Donovan Baker
PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Donovan has been in the health industry for over 10 years, and has a passion for all things performance and wellness. His experience has seen him work with football teams in the NRL and NRC, skiing related injuries in Japan, elite weightlifters and CrossFit athletes, along with all sorts of aches and pains with everyday people in private clinic. He's also been involved in the research side of physiotherapy, and as a scientific author is published in the ‘Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport'.

‘I started PhysioRX as I was tired of seeing the 'conveyor belt' treatment approach in clinics, with the focus on patient numbers and revenue, and not how best to help the person in front of me. I'm passionate about getting people out of pain and back doing the things they love. I firmly believe exercise and sound nutrition are key to a happy and healthy life, and my treatment philosophy mirrors this’.

SERVICES

OUR SERVICES

1

INITIAL ASSESSMENT

First we listen to your story and get your thoughts on the problem. This is the first step in narrowing down what the issue is. Then we assess your static body and joint positions, as well as overall postures to see if they have any correlation to your symptoms.

2

MOVEMENT SCREEN

Next we have a look at how you move. This involves full body functional movements as well as specific joint, muscle and nerve assessments relevant to your pain.

3

TREATMENT PLAN

Lastly we put together a treatment plan to address the root cause of the issue. This is different and specific for everyone, but generally involves a mix of manual therapy and exercise prescription.

  • Do I need a doctor's referral?
Nope, you can book directly with us. But bring any relevant referrals you may already have.
  • Do you take private health insurance?
Yep! We have HICAPs available on site so if you're covered for physiotherapy with your private health insurer, you'll get the rebate on the spot.
  • How many sessions will it take?
The answer really is, it depends. Every person and injury is different and so is the time it will take to resolve the issue. Here's a rough guideline however: Minor issue: 1-5 sessions Moderate issue: 5-10 sessions Severe issue: 10-15+ sessions
  • What should I wear?
Active wear is ideal, think singlets and shorts. We'll need to have a good look at certain parts of the body, sometimes this will involve removing some items of clothing (it's all in a private treatment room though). You will also likely be working up a sweat with some of the exercises as well, so a towel and a water bottle are a good idea.
  • How long is a session?
For your initial session allow an hour. For all follow up appointments allow for 30-45min.
